"Box in a Box" was livestreamed in May 2020 on Twitch. At the time I was having difficulty coping with the realities of art and music in a sheltered in place, pandemic world. In that state I felt as if a virtual performance of my regular music would feel inauthentic and useless. Instead, I decided to turn the frustrations of the daily pandemic life, awkward video calls and vapid time wasted on the internet, into the piece itself, with a bit of a cheeky spirit. The video feedback of broadcasting my screen as I went to look at my own Twitch performance echoed the hapless feeling of every aspect of one's life taking place inside their computer, and the piece slowly twists in on itself as my remarks to the audience ("Can you see my screen???") get chopped and repeated ad nauseum. "Box in a Box" was performed using live processing of audio and video.
